As part of our Mastering English lessons, the children follow a ‘read it, try it, write it’ approach when building up to a piece of independent writing. During the ‘try it’ lessons, pupils have the opportunity to practise writing with others. In this session, the children were working in small groups to write a journey story about an evacuee. Each group were given a section of the story to write: the opening, build up, problem, resolution or ending. We were then able to put all of these parts together to create one story.
